MINT - Peppermint (Mentha
piperita)
As part of an equine
diet mint is most often used to enhance the taste of feeds to encourage a
fussy feeder to eat up but it is also a great aid to optimize the digestive
system to ensure the best use is made of the feed stuffs given. It has
other uses particularly in helping to prevent flatulence, diarrhoea and
colic and it can aid a mild cough.
Feeding
30 to 40 grams daily for
a 500kg 16.2h average horse (adjust amount for smaller or larger animals)
best divided between 2 feeds about 12 hours apart if possible. 1kg will
last an average 500kg horse about 25 to 30+ days. Safe under rules
