Whilst nutrition can help with the growth of new horn, the hoof horn from the coronet down is actually dead tissue. Once the horn grows beyond the coronary band it is therefore the environment and the management of it that influences hoof health.

Traditional hoof care applications such as oils and greases are excellent for cosmetic purposes, but cannot be used therapeutically as a scientific approach is necessary. Cornucrescine® Daily Hoof Dressing is a specific daily application developed in 1896 that will nourish and protect hooves, and has been used by generations of horse owners worldwide to maintain hoof health.

Cornucrescine® Original Hoof Ointment is successful in stimulating hoof growth when massaged into the coronet and can help restructuring of the hoof if used regularly. This traditional and unique formulation is the only external application of its kind. Although Original Hoof Ointment has been recommended and used by farriers for over a century using the latest technology and research available, several extensions to the range have been developed. Apply to clean hooves, by hand, rubbing in well around the coronet band and into any cracks. Use weekly to maintain a healthy growth of horn, or daily to accelerate hoof growth and improve poor hoof quality. Due to increased hoof growth during use, hooves may need trimming more frequently.
