Feeding Directions

Choose a chew that is the right size for your dog. It is recommended to buy a chew that is at least twice the size of your dog’s mouth to prevent accidental swallowing.
Your dog should always be supervised when chewing to avoid your dog biting off and swallowing a large piece that could present a choking hazard.
Throw away any chewed-off pieces, and to avoid the build-up of dirt and bacteria you should throw away any remaining chew after a week and replace it with a new chew.
Always ensure that your dog has fresh drinking water available.
Feed the dog chew on a non-stainable surface.

Rawhide is literally the inner layer of the hides, or skins, of cattle. It is composed of approximately 86% protein, 12% fibre and moisture, and 2% fat on average.

Dogs are naturally carnivorous animals and in the wild their ancestors would have eaten animal skin and bones as well as flesh.

The hide is first tanned and then dried before being shaped to produce dog chews that are available in a wide variety of shapes and sizes - including traditional bones, knots, braids and rolls.

By choosing different shapes now and again for your dog you are providing additional interest and stimulation.

Virtually all dogs enjoy the taste of rawhide and will chew happily for long periods.

If your dog shows reluctance to chew, ask your vet to check their mouth and teeth for any problems which may be causing them pain when chewing.

Poor dental health can lead to more serious illnesses and health problems for your dog. Tooth loss can occur when bacteria leads to gum disease. If high levels of bacteria from the mouth enters your dog’s bloodstream it can lead to more serious infections and illness.
