Congratulations to amateur jockey Sam Waley-Cohen – a close friend of Prince William and Kate Middleton – who won the Cheltenham Gold Cup in one of the most exciting finishes seen to this classic race in many years.

He rode Long Run to victory, making it the first ever Cheltenham Gold Cup win for trainer Nicky Henderson.

Waley-Cohen, whose day job is as a businessman in the City, set a new course record of 6mins 29secs as he beat past winners Denman and Kauto Star, both experienced 11-year-olds.

Long Run is the first six-year-old horse to lift the prized trophy since Mill House in 1963, and Waley-Cohen is the first amateur jockey to win the race since Jim Wilson in 1981.

Of course, racehorses need special care and at Pegasus Health we are pleased to be able to share with you some great products from specialist suppliers Equine Science

Equine Science Pulmon-EZ™ supports excellent lung function of horses who race and compete in strenuous sports, while Equine Science Gastro Plus™  is a non-prescription, veterinary-strength, all-natural preparation to support digestion.

Whatever regimes the horses at this year’s Cheltenham Festival were following it made a great four days for the punters and not the best ever event for the bookmakers – who paid out heavily over the week.
