No Moody No - Tried and TestedSupplements for moody mares
No Moody No® is a powerful fast-acting herbal tincture for moodiness in fillies, mares and geldings caused by hormones. It is a viable alternative to other additions for this purpose.

Dealing with moody mares
Many mares and fillies become difficult, temperamental and unfocused during the spring and summer months - but for others, sadly, hormones affect their performance all year round.
No Moody No® supports the ovarian region to offer relief and promote comfort.

Research has shown that Vitex agnus-castus for horses aids the pituitary gland and the hypothalamus to support the body’s natural ratio of the hormones oestrogen and progesterone. It is these hormones that can lead to unwanted behaviours and discomfort for mares in season. The pituitary gland plays a major role in reproduction, digestion, growth, metabolic rate and ageing.

No Moody No® 1:2 strength is the strongest concentration on the equine market and is particularly useful for horses with poor digestion or who are fussy eaters. It gives your horse all the benefits of Vitex agnus-castus in a concentrated form that is easily-absorbed into the bloodstream for speedy results.

No Moody No® is a natural, nutritional supplement which supports the body's normal hormonal activity and responses.

No Moody No® is:

  • A natural product
  • Fast-acting
  • Safe for long-term use
  • Safe for competition use

Moody mare tips
Herbal tinctures have been made for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. They are stable, safe and easy to take and their overwhelming advantage is that they allow the herb to be absorbed quickly into the bloodstream through the lining of the stomach. This makes it faster-acting than the alternative dried Vitex agnus-castus berries, which has the same health benefits - but is slower to act as it has to rely on the body’s process of digestion to take it into the bloodstream.

Tinctures also have the advantage of a much longer shelf life than that of dried herbs. Herbal tinctures are made by extracting the herbal components of the plant through a mixture of water and alcohol.

Vitex agnus-castus
- to give the herb its botanical name - is a large aromatic shrub that originated in southern Europe and produces small white or lilac flowers in summer. It grows along the banks of rivers in the Mediterranean and Central Asiatic valleys. It also grows in the dry and rocky terrain of the Italian and Greek coastlines. It is part of the vervain family of plants. Vitex agnus-castus contains flavonoids, iridoid glycosides and terpenoids.

After flowering and pollination, Vitex agnus-castus develops small, hard, dark berries, about the size of peppercorns. The berries are dried and crushed to produce powder, or made into a tincture.

Historical uses of Vitex agnus-castus
Vitex agnus-castus has been used since at least the 4th century BC to support balanced human female hormones and help with menstrual cramps, mood swings and water retention. It is also said to re-balance hormones and increase milk production.

By around 900 AD Vitex agnus-castus was being widely used as a herbal medicine across the Middle East, especially in Egypt and Persia.

In the 16th century, under the names chasteberry or monk’s pepper, it became popular with herbalists in England.

Tilly's story.

Tilly is our 5 year old TBX mare. Last summer we had a very turbulent time with her ! she became unpredictable and spooky to ride and would nap and rear when pushed forward, out hacking she would sometimes explode for no apparent reason. This Spring we started her on Vitex agnus-castus liquid supplement and have been amazed at the difference, Tilly is far calmer and hacking is now a pleasure ! She will sometimes nap but does not give me a battle if I correct her. Her behaviour on the yard is excellent, we are a happy family !!
