Rosehip granules for horses - the fruit of the rose plant - is probably best-known for the high levels of vitamin C it contains. But the Rosa canina species of rosehips can also support the joints of older and hard-working horses via its beneficial effects on joints that have wear and tear.

Rosehip contains a wealth of nutritional goodness including vitamins A, C, E, K and all the B vitamins, along with beneficial fatty acids, calcium, magnesium, silica, phosphorous, copper and bioflavonoids which help support the natural healing process.

Long taken to ward off colds and flu in humans, Rosehip can help support optimal immunity and act as a general tonic.

The rosehip is the edible and highly nutritious fruit of the rose plant. The smooth, round berries - packed full of vitamin and mineral goodness - turn from green to red as they ripen.

The Rosa Canina species of rosehip has been shown in recent years to be ideal to feed to horses with reduced mobility.

Rosehip for horses are rich in bioflavonoids - which are important to build and support strong body tissue. This makes them a useful equine supplement to feed to a horse recovering from illness or injury. The high-vitamin content helps maintain a healthy immune system and bioflavonoids also help support natural tissue healing.

Rosehips support good stomach health, and the vitamin and mineral content also make rosehips helpful for strong, healthy hoof growth and good coat condition.

Many owners feed rosehip supplement in the autumn and winter to support healthy functioning of the immune system. Supplementing in this way also helps horses handle stress and upset, they say.

When it comes to long-term equine joint health, rosehips for horses have been shown in some tests to be 40% more effective than glucosamine for horses (The Daily Telegraph 19/05/009). Studies by Danish researchers on both horses and humans suggest that rosehips are an ideal supplement for those with reduced mobility.

Additional studies have shown that rosehips are helpful to the circulatory system, respiratory system, the thymus gland and as a blood cleanser.

Rosehips for horses are also taken to support healing after bruising and skin irritations. They also help maintain correct body fluid balance and support respiratory health.

Rosehips are the most amazing food for equines (humans, dogs!) with joint & general stiffness. My 23 yr old semi retired ID x TB Eventer has been on the usual glucosamine & chondroitine for the last couple of years with some relief. This summer I put him on micronised rosehips & linseed and within a couple of days he was transformed. I took him off the glucosamine etc over a couple of weeks & now he has approx 250 g per day rosehips & linseed & he's never looked back. His stiffness is gone, his schooling work is transformed & he no longer has trouble with stoney ground. Even the farrier commented how much easier my horse is when being shod. I've now started having rosehips myself daily (already have linseed) & I can honestly say I am much less stiff getting out of bed, chairs etc. I cannot recommend rosehips highly enough. Five stars +
